this show has run its course. the guests are awful, shows are posted on an inconsistent basis, the host is rude and Steve is living in the past. the nighthawk is the only one that is remotely entertaining.

Why wrestle with it? It’s freedom of speech. People get so torn up these days about what others say and it’s getting a bit ridiculous. If someone doesn’t like what is said, they have full right to stop listening. It seems that today people are not content with changing what they listen to when they are not happy with something– but instead complain and whine and apply labels to those speaking and have the content tailored to their liking. “Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place”

To tell you the truth, I wrestled for a long time with whether to leave that in or not. Obviously the term was more acceptable 20 years ago but is not appropriate in 2011. Thanks for another great hour. Atco was never owned by Robert Stigwood, but it was the US label for the bands he managed (Cream, Bee Gees, etc.) until he started his label RSO. Atco was a subsidiary of Atlantic for all non-Jazz/R&B releases until Led Zeppelin demanded they be placed on the parent label.

BTW, I’m a big fan of a number of US Capitol Beatles albums, but for some reason Beatles VI never had its own identity to me other than containing mostly the leftovers (better songs we placed on Beatles ’65) from one of their weaker UK albums (B4Sale), but yet it’s a still a 5 star album. Good bless EMI for squeezing out so much music from the Lads in such a short period of time. There was only 6.5 years between the release of Please Please Me and Abbey Road… the same amount of time between SYMM and 3S&AC.

Susan Smith drove her kids into a pond in Union, SC, killing them and blamed an african american person for it via carjacking. I believe she was later impregnated by a security guard. I think Michael Jordan’s dad was killed around Spartanburg, SC…but not sure of the exact location. Hootie is from Columbia, SC.

Mitch should know about Anderson b/c Jim Rice is from Anderson, SC…and Kevin Garnett is from my hometown, Mauldin, SC.

The CCR chart record Steve was thinking about was probably the most #2 hits (later surpassed by Madonna), but they still hold the unlucky distinction of most #2 hits (5) w/o ever hitting #1. (Beach Boys had more than twice as many top 40 hits as CCR.) BTW, Tom Fogerty passed away 20 years ago.

Anyone who grew up in St. Louis can instantly name 3 Foghat songs, as Fool For the City & I Just Want to Make Love to You were still in heavy rotation when I left in the mid 90s.

The Royal Wedding is not interesting. In fact, it’s about as interesting to me as the NBA (regular season or playoffs). This show is awesome, but, I challenge Steve and Mitch to watch college basketball, high school basketball, junior high b-ball, or even 6 yr. olds play, and then try to watch the NBA. Looks like your wish pretty much came true JC. The Commodores have no alpha dog, which is why they have no idea what to do in last minute situations. Someone has to want to take that shot.

Stallings has done great things for that program, but his tournament performances leaves much to be desired.

i agree whole-heartedly with the nighthawk. uga has no business in the tourney after getting beat by bama. uga sucks and (hopefully) will have an early exit. it makes zero sense for them getting a bid. by the way the commodores folded against florida in the sec tourney, don’t look for them to win more than two games. i can only hope the entire clemson team gets whacked in newark.

Just watched the youtube video of Prince’s. That place is so ghetto, with that ho getting it on in the parking lot, on the hood of cars…dunking their hot ass in the toilet water…that dude dropping the big “N” when talking about hitting another dude in the face with the hot chicken. I say that to say this, I believe I will make the drive up from ATL to try the chicken and make sure to have a motel room for the whole next day to make sure the “missile” has the appropriate resting place. Good recommendation & you were right about Winter’s Bone & The Greenhornes. I’ll be checking them out at the Masquerade in April. Winter’s Bone has become a family favorite. We try to find our local Thump, Miriam & Teardrop at the Canton Wal-Mart every trip out.

It was Fellini’s Little Five Points. The epicenter of all that was righteous and cool about Atlanta in the late 80′s.

Clay and Mike sold out eventually, I think it’s still a pizza place now, but it was the 2nd location of the Fellini’s empire and a great place to have wasted a few years.

Thanks for another great episode. Regarding Ringo’s popularity: In the 60s when the geniuses at Capitol were giving us inferior (to the UK catalog) Beatles albums they also created a few new singles from UK album cuts, including “Yesterday”/”Act Naturally”. Since Ringo was so popular here “Act Naturally” was given the A side, carried the lower number on the 7″ label, and was touted before “Yesterday” in the Billboard ad published prior to a taped performance airing on the Ed Sullivan show the night before the single’s release. Radio liked “Yesterday” better.

Regarding Parks & Recreation: I think anyone who likes this show should check out new cast member Adam Scott’s recentlly cancelled “Party Down”, also streaming on Netflix. It would’ve been totally off my Radar, airling the last two years on Starz, had Bill Simmons not constantly raved about it on his podcasts.

If we all chip in a small amount, we can really make a difference in the Nighthawk’s quality of life here. I almost feel guilty now when I sit down to enjoy such quality cable programming as “Hoarders” and “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant,” not to mention the circa-1994 Real Sex episodes that HBO has been serving up lately.

Been trying to stop listening to Croweology now for several weeks, but I’m stuck playing it over and over. I’ve played it out almost too many times, I’m afraid I’ve ruined it for myself. It’s just a great set, especially for a casual fan that hasn’t really been able to experience the live Crowes. It’s a great example of how musicians who have had to play the same songs over and over to fans, have been able to assemble the very best of what they have discovered in their songs when playing live, then capturing that on a record. Just a fantastic piece of work. I wasn’t a die hard Crowes fan before, but I am now. Thanks for making it happen.

Kim Kardashian has won me over. She has now been taken off my sh*t list. I just can’t help but think that a little initiative could’ve landed KK at the show. All it would’ve taken was a little face-to-face invite from the rhythm section of TBC. Who knows where that could lead? Maybe even a showing of the SGS! t-shirt on the red carpet at some event. Dare I say it…maybe even the DASH stores carrying the new spring ’11 line of SGS! apparel?? It is only left to ponder now. An opportunity lost.

Mr. Bean in the buff, running around a pool and in front of a gaggle of girls in swimsuits…comedic genius. Monty Python could only rival such raucous comedy.

Keep your eyes open for the light blue SGS! t-shirt @ the Tabernacle on Nov 20. I may even create a poster reading “Mr. Bean Rules!”

I insulted Mitch’s knowledge of a certain British legend in a previous comment. However, I am on his side 100% when I say Monty Python “to me” of course, is absolutely UNFUNNY. However, I’ve noticed that either you love MP or completely dislike MP. There are no “take it or leave it” viewers when it comes to Monty Python. I’ve actually tried to force myself to enjoy it… I can’t.

Steve…. In the name of all things holy, please find the time to check out The Devil And Daniel Johnston. Of course finding time with the schedule you have may be a bit hard, but it’s simply well worth the time. I can’t stress enough the delicious genius this man has, and it’s well documented.

Steve, love the podcast. I had forgotten all about the show Fridays. I remember watching it and seeing the kid playing with the army guys on the dirt mound. That was my favorite part of that show, I just never realized it was Michael Richards.

Since WWWS would not let me comment on an entry, I feel this information actually has to do with SGS. You weren’t sure who/what “CELTIC THUNDER” is. The band took their name from the Irish equivalent of Darryl Dawkins or “Chocolate Thunder”. Davy O’Dawkins is actually his name by birth. Good friends from Dublin told me that his dunks dwarf Chocolate Thunder’s,… but there’s no proof of this yet on YouTube.
